Welcome to Lazy AF Cattle Company, where our roots in farming trace back to the days before the Revolutionary War in picturesque western Pennsylvania. Our family has nurtured the land for generations, and our story took a turn when our beloved grandpa, Zan Fairman, passed away in 1998.
In the aftermath of his passing, I took the reins, purchasing the cattle from my grandma. However, as I embarked on my college career, majoring in baseball and getting my degree in mechanical engineering, the inevitable decision to part with the remaining cattle became a reality.
Fast forward to 2020 when a new chapter began as my dad, Dave Fairman and I started exploring options on how we could use our land and what we could produce that would keep our land in the best conditions for generations to come.
We learned that the best way to rejuvenate land was to use regenerative farming practices with grazing animals.
We took on the ambitious task of revitalizing our farm infrastructure, with a specific focus on accommodating Texas Longhorn cattle.
The choice of the Texas Longhorn breed was deliberate, driven by considerations such as ease of birthing, the health benefits of their beef, and the breed’s remarkable hardiness and low maintenance. Our commitment to excellence led us to concentrate on securing the finest genetics for horn development, confirmation, color, beef production, and disposition. Grandpa Zan had nice cattle, but we think he would be VERY proud of the new herd.
At Lazy AF Cattle Company, we take immense pride in our regenerative approach to raising cattle. Our commitment extends beyond the livestock, as we prioritize the stewardship of the land, leaving a legacy that enhances the environment for future generations.
Join us on this journey as we continue to uphold our traditions while pursuing opportunities to improve our family’s farms and ranches across the USA to raise Texas Longhorns using the same regenerative techniques and methods as we have from the beginning.
